About Us

The CT GS&PGA Mission Statement

The Connecticut Giant Squash & Pumpkin Growers Association is a group of individuals who have organized for the purpose of furthering the sport of competitive Giant Squash & Pumpkin growing. We also intend to involve & assist hobbyist growers & further the overall interest in these amazing fruit (Cucurbita maxima var. Atlantic Giant, et al.).

With all the effort required to grow these fruit competitively and the pressures we already have on our domestic & professional lives, it seems fitting to join those of like interest who share similar local environmental & demographic challenges for the mutual benefit of the members at large. It is in this vein that we gather as a group to support one another, to share ideas and resources for the continued advancement of our own personal best growing efforts as well as the larger growing community we exist within. We desire a better historical perspective of the subject plant so that we may continue to improve their genetics. We recognize that education is critical to improving the Connecticut area grower's results. However we continue to encourage membership from all areas.

It is our goal to foster a sense of camaraderie without losing sight of the benefits of outreach.
